Summer 2008 Workshops
The SC Education program doesn't end at the SC Conference! Education events continue throughout the year, culminating in the SC08 conference at Austin, Texas in November. In this way, communities are encouraged to grow and branch out, and then gather at the SC08 Conference both to incorporate new members as well as discuss what methods for education have been most successful.
Year long efforts include:
- Week-long summer workshops around the country starting the summer before SC08
- Regular spring and fall visits to campuses for workshops, one-on-one consulting, and working with administrators
- Mentoring of faculty and students
- On-line mentoring, resources, seminars, tutorials, etc.
- Course materials development by faculty
- Posting of materials to ACM and NSF digital libraries, such as
- CSERD: Computational Science Education Reference Desk (http://www.shodor.org/cserd/)
- NSDL: National Science Digital Library (http://nsdl.org/)
